Infant Dies In Day Care Centre

The death of a 3 months old baby has rising of suspicion over the licence and accreditation of one of the child day care centers in New York City, this investigation began after the toddler died on his first day at the day care center.
Police reported that 3 months old Karl Towndrow became unresponsive 15 minutes after he was laid down to take his siesta at the SoHo child care center in Manhattan, New York. According to the police report, the owner of the day care called 911 and was later advised to adopt the right procedure of CPR until the first med units response arrived.

Still unknown is the cause of the death as the parents can't fathom what happened and seems to be at shock at the moment. Well! as the situation stands, it seems the child care attendants can't explain it either.

The family's lawyer is still asking questions to know what happened, he said "I still don't know yet if the day care got a license and other legal reviews, but anyways as it stands we still don't know what the outcome could be".

Later reports have revealed that the center is unlicensed, the police has taken over the premises and activities have been shutdown. According to the New York State Office of Children and Family Services, the owner of the 14 year old unlicensed child care center Mr Strautmanis has refused to appear at the ABC news for comments,

Mr. Lynette Fraga the director of the NGO "Child Care Aware of America" said that their are tons of child care centers all over the Nation of which a large number of them are not Licensed he went on to advice parents to be vigilant while sending their kids to day care centers. According to Mr Fraga "There are three basic steps i advice families to consider when they are seeking out child care centers this includes: call, visit and revisit”.

The CCAA director also told parents to contact them for the names of those child care that are licensed and experts in their localities. According to Child Care Aware of America, the local agencies can help with questions like:

· What are the licensing and background check requirements in my locality?
· How can I get information about complaints and licensing violations of day cares?
· Is my family eligible for the child care financial assistance program?
