Chinese Tai Chi Can Help Reduce Risks Of Heart Disease

Tai Chi is a physical activity/exercise basically characterized by the gentle movement and deep breathing. This mind-body practice offers a non traditional form of exercise that may appeal mostly by people who gets bored at the gym.

According to study, several results have shown that tai chi can reduce certain cardiovascular risk factors including reducing levels of total cholesterol and triglycerides, boosts levels of "good" HDL cholesterol and finely slowing heart rate.

Evidences from researches done by a group of Harvard doctors in 2008 showed that 22 out of 26 studies reported reduction in blood pressure among participants of the tai chi section. In 1996, an exercise section was set up with randomly selected 126 heart attack survivors for eight weeks. After the set time, there was a general improvement in both diastolic and systolic blood pressure of each participant. Participants were also more likely to stick with the tai chi program over time but on personal decision.

Researchers have said that the strategy of the experimental trials  makes it difficult to draw a firm conclusion about the effect of the exercise and suggests that more trials should be conducted with different regimens, different types of the tai chi exercise, and then follow different groups or individuals using varying amount of time in order to eliminate error which could affect conclusions.
