South Sudan: Peace At Last?

The worlds youngest nation has finally agreed on the signing of a peace deal, August 26 is really a well awaited day, the people of south Sudan have waited so long and dreamed of. At last, a flicker of hope amid immense ongoing suffering of the people of South Sudan.

The 20 months conflict of south Sudan have left the nation devastated over the year recording over 600 thousand death, two million people have fled their homes and nearly half of the country is at risk of starvation. Without continued pressure by the United States and the international community, the country may easily slip back into war.

Pressure from regional and global organisations have at this point seemed to have had a positive effect on the south Sudan crisis. The demands by human rights activists for President Obama to pressure South Sudan's leaders for a peace deal during his trip to Africa in late July made a critical difference.

Hopes have risen for a peaceful atmosphere in Sudan but there is more needed to be done than just ordinary peace briefings in order to sustain the peace hope, more efforts should apply to avert the inhuman crisis and bring those responsible for the violence to justice to ensure that this peace deal won't be more than just a glimmer of hope.

Concerned agencies must make sure that south Sudan do not deviate from the content of the agreement which they've signed, a targeted sanction should be placed on desk to certify that south Sudan leaders never deviate. The UN should strengthen their monitoring system of not only south Sudan, but also the neighboring nations.

As it stands now, more work even greater than the one already done, a massive commitment from the humanitarian agencies is needed to ensure that south Sudan doesn't fall back to war. The general population of south Sudan is at the risk of malnutrition especially the children among them they need funding from theses agencies and ally governments in order to sustain the lives of there population. else a post war death might be occur.

A simple reverse of a signature from war to peace will not turn away what have already been done in south Sudan over the past 20 months, a look at the humanitarian agencies report over the past months would tell that more work is needed in Sudan than just signing a peace deal to cure the sorrows of burning and abduction of children and r*pe in the hearth of survived Sudanese.

Now after the peace deal what next? its time for sudan to find the guilty and the innocent, those who perpetrated the genocide needs to be brought to justice in order to cure the mass atrocity that has just been comited over the months this is very necessary to calm the storm of revenge in the minds of some people and also to guarantee no future internal genocide like the one just witnessed.

Well good and sweet it is really it will never be understood by someone who have not experienced the simple act of war or conflict as we call them but yes never the calmness of the atmosphere the joy in the minds of the children, even though people has not much to eat but the joy in their heart had no bond, families finally uniting together after months of separation well this is the way it is they finally get to mourn their brothers, mothers, fathers, sisters who didn't survive the long walk. I myself even though i can't get up now and leap my soul is leaping for joy, long was it the last time i slept for complete 2 hours without tension in the atmosphere which sometimes could be false alarms.

Clearly it is in the minds of the people the hope of a better nation, better education, better health system, and lots of betters written all over the minds of the people, the children once again given a future to hope for a reason to live once again in the minds of their parents i am so happy with relationship America has with this new nation, for the efforts those humanitarian agencies made to conquer the forces of evil hovering over the atmosphere of south Sudan and i am happy that these relationship have been used to bring back peace in south Sudan.

But true celebration can only come once concrete measures have been taken to stop the violence, reduce arms, provide humanitarian aid, and hold those responsible for the violence accountable. without a soluble and diplomatic strategy in making sure that the peace deal last longer their could be risk of future conflict in South Sudan not far away.
